Matt Sakakeeny

My work relates music and sound to structures of inequality, especially anti-Black racism in New Orleans.

I’m currently writing a book about The Roots of Music, an afterschool program I’ve volunteered with since 2008. I’m also producing a documentary film with director Abdul Aziz called Rudiments.

I’ve written three books:
